Explore movement expressions through the free approach to body movement pioneered by Barbara Mettler. A variety of movement themes will be presented to encourage students to cultivate kinesthetic awareness, creativity and connection. 

Please wear black top and bottom without designs or logos.

For safety reasons, jewelry should not be worn during class.

Prior dance experience not needed.

Winter Dance Retreat; Free Group Dance Improvisation

Monday through Friday February 22--26, 2027

taught by Griff Goerhring

The Retreat is designed for experience dancers familiar with the principles of free movement expression developed by Barbara Mettler. It is an opportunity to strengthen individual skills and to deepen group feeling for form and relationship. Full attendance for five days provides the best experience; however, partial attendance may be allowed with the instructor’s permission. Areas of focus may include:

·      Balancing individual freedom with accountability to the group expression

·      Sensing and refining individual and group form

·      Moving beyond familiar patterns and habits

·      Giving and receiving feedback
